TWHBEA Promotes Mounted Patrol
TWHBEA Director of Marketing, Chris Coffey, was on hand April 17 at the Shelbyville Tractor Supply Company Store to help promote the newly organized Bedford County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol unit at its first “meet and greet.” The Patrol includes two full-time deputies, reserves and civilian volunteers.
Chris Coffey and TWHBEA Executive Director, Stan Butt, recently met with patrol organizer, Ernie Brewbaker, and agreed to help the unit obtain Tennessee Walking Horses as their chosen mounts. Shortly after the initial meeting, TWHBEA sent out a plea to the TWH industry for assistance in providing qualified mounts.
Stan Butt spoke with Bedford County Sheriff, Randall Boyce, by phone and reported that the sheriff was excited about the new Mounted Patrol. “It will be a welcomed addition to our department and will provide an excellent opportunity for increased public relations, as well as providing an added benefit to our department,” said Boyce.
Just recently, the newly organized unit attended Sergeant J D Harber’s Nashville Metro Mounted Patrol training at Ellington Ag Center in Nashville. The unit, officers and steeds, received 40 hours of valuable training and instruction from Sgt Harber and his team.
